Happy Kids Books (“we”, “us”, “our”) sells printable activity books and workbooks for children. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
We are based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. You can reach us at [email protected] with any question about this policy or your data.
A note about children
Our products are made for children, but this website is intended for parents, carers and teachers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us at [email protected] and we will delete the information promptly.
What we collect and why
When you buy something
Our checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy, who act as the merchant of record for our sales. When you buy from us, you give Lemon Squeezy your name, email address, billing address and payment details.
We never see or store your full card number. Card details go directly to Lemon Squeezy’s payment processors. We receive only your name, email address, country, and a record of what you bought.
We use this to deliver your download, send your receipt, provide support, and keep the sales records we are required to keep for tax purposes.
Lemon Squeezy’s own privacy policy applies to the information they hold: https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy
When you join our email list
If you sign up for our free sample or newsletter, we collect your email address and first name. We use these to send you the free printables, occasional new product announcements, and learning tips.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can leave at any time, and we will delete your address from the list when you do.
We use Brevo to send these emails, which means your address is stored on their servers.
When you leave a comment
If you comment on a blog post, we collect what you type in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser information, which helps us filter spam.
Comments and their details are kept indefinitely so that we can recognize and approve follow-up comments from you automatically.
If you use Gravatar, an anonymised version of your email address may be sent to their service to fetch your profile picture. Their policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/
When you contact us
If you email us or use our contact form, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply and follow up if needed.
When you simply browse
Analytics. We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand which pages people visit and how they found us. This tells us which products and articles are useful. Google’s practices: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Security and performance. Our site runs through Cloudflare, which speeds up loading and protects against attacks. Cloudflare processes your IP address to do this. Their policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them for:
- Essential functions — keeping your shopping cart working and remembering your cookie choices. The site cannot work properly without these.
- Analytics — Google Analytics uses cookies to count visitors and see which pages are popular.
- Comments — if you comment, you can opt in to saving your name and email so you do not have to retype them. These last one year.
If you have an account and log in, we set cookies to keep you logged in and remember your display preferences. Login cookies last two days, or two weeks if you choose “Remember Me”. They are removed when you log out.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.
Embedded content
Some pages include content from other websites, such as videos. These behave as though you had visited that other site directly, and those sites may collect data about you, set their own cookies, and track your interaction with the content.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that make this business run:
| Who | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lemon Squeezy | Name, email, billing details, payment | To process your purchase |
| Brevo | Email address, first name | To send newsletters and free samples |
| Google Analytics | Anonymised usage data, IP address | To understand site traffic |
| Cloudflare | IP address, request data | Security and site speed |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep things
- Purchase records — as long as required by tax and accounting law, typically several years.
- Newsletter subscriptions — until you unsubscribe.
- Comments — indefinitely, unless you ask us to remove them.
- Contact messages — up to two years.
- Analytics data — according to Google’s retention settings, typically 14 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Receive a copy of it
- Correct anything inaccurate
- Ask us to delete it
- Object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict that use
- Withdraw consent you previously gave, such as for marketing emails
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, these rights come from the UK GDPR and EU GDPR. If you are in California, you have similar rights under the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.
Where your data goes
We operate from Sri Lanka, and the services we use are based in the United States and elsewhere. This means your information may be transferred outside your own country. Our providers use standard contractual clauses and similar safeguards for these transfers.
Security
We use HTTPS encryption across the site, and payment information is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy’s secure systems. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and revise the date at the top. Please check back occasionally.
