Making Learning Feel Like Play
Happy Kids Books started with a simple frustration: finding good printable learning material for children shouldn’t be this hard.
Search for a preschool worksheet and you’ll get thousands of results — most of them cluttered, badly printed, pitched at the wrong age, or padded out with pages your child will never use. Parents end up downloading dozens of files and using three of them.
We make the opposite of that. Every workbook we publish is a complete, sequenced set of pages built around one skill, designed so that a parent can print page one tonight and know exactly what comes next.
Who We Make These For
Our resources are made for children aged 3 to 9, and for the adults helping them learn:
- Parents doing ten or fifteen minutes of practice at the kitchen table after school
- Homeschooling families who need structured material without committing to a full curriculum
- Teachers and tutors looking for printable practice they can use with a small group
- Grandparents and carers who want screen-free activities that actually teach something
We’re not trying to replace school. We’re trying to make the bit that happens at home feel manageable — and, ideally, enjoyable.
How Our Workbooks Are Made
Every title goes through the same process before it’s published:
We start with the skill, not the theme. Sight words, letter formation, counting, grammar, comprehension. The safari animals and baby elephants come afterwards — they’re what makes a child open the book, but the skill is what the book is for.
We sequence the pages deliberately. Skills build on each other, and earlier material reappears later so children revisit it rather than meeting it once and forgetting it.
We check the design for young hands and eyes. Line weights thick enough for a toddler to color inside. Fonts with the single-storey letterforms children learn to write. Enough white space that a page doesn’t feel overwhelming.
We test-print everything. Every workbook is printed on ordinary home paper before release, because a file that looks beautiful on screen and prints badly is useless.
What We Publish
Our current range covers the years when learning to read, write and count is the whole job:
- Preschool and kindergarten readiness — tracing, letters, counting, matching and pencil control for ages 3 to 6
- Sight words and early reading — high-frequency word practice for ages 5 to 9
- Language arts — grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and writing for grades 3 to 5
- Coloring and creativity — thick-outline coloring pages designed for small hands
New titles are added regularly, and existing ones are updated when we spot something that could work better.
Print It Once, Use It Forever
All our books are instant PDF downloads. There’s no waiting for delivery, no shipping cost, and — the part parents tell us matters most — you can print any page as many times as you like.
That last point isn’t a small thing. Children learn through repetition. A paper workbook can only be written in once; a printable can be reprinted every time your child needs another go at the same page, or handed down to a younger sibling years later.
Free Resources for Parents
Alongside the workbooks, we write a free blog covering reading, writing, early math and learning at home. It’s practical rather than theoretical — how many sight words a child should know at each age, what to do when a child reads fluently but doesn’t understand, how long practice sessions should actually be.
Everything there is free to read and use, whether you ever buy anything or not.

Happy Kids Books is a small independent publisher based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, creating printable learning resources for families around the world. We’re not a large company, and that’s deliberate — it means every book is made carefully rather than churned out to fill a catalogue.
We’re parents and educators ourselves, and every workbook we publish has been used by a real child before it goes on sale.
